GAMSTOP Announces 30% Increase in Registrations from 16-24 Year Olds
8 September 2023
More than 48,000 consumers have registered with GAMSTOP in the first six months of 2023. In March we recorded our biggest-ever month for sign-ups, a record which was then broken again in May.
Our data from the first half of the year highlighted a 30% growth in registrations from 16–24-year-olds who now represent 21% of registrations. The data also shows that 50% of registrants chose to exclude themselves for five years, the maximum exclusion period that we offer.
Over 400,000 people have registered with GAMSTOP since we launched the service 5 years ago.
Our CEO Fiona Palmer said:
“This data shows the continuing importance of GAMSTOP in helping consumers to protect themselves from gambling harm. At our Parliamentary reception in June to mark GAMSTOP’s fifth anniversary, we heard the moving stories of some of those who have benefitted from the scheme. This data puts those stories and lived experiences into a wider context and shows that self-exclusion is an increasingly important tool for anyone trying to take a break from gambling”.
